PCC Meeting

Every Spring and Fall, a group of us "drinkers" called the "Pub Crawl Committee" or PCC, get together to plan an annual pub crawl through the Central West End of Saint Louis. We met last night to pick the theme for this year's Spring Crawl.

This crawl marks the 15th year of the PCC and we wanted to do some sort of "Anniversary" themed. We decided that the crawl will take place on May 6th... the day after Cinco de Mayo. We thought it would be appropriate to keep the "fiesta" theme going and call this crawl "Sixo de Mayo- la QuinceaƱera". 15 years of pubcrawls is a long tradition, and this pubcrawl will be one of the best!

On to the beers!

Bass Ale
I Feared this day would come. The day when I would be at a bar with little to no craft breweries on tap. Toms Bar and Grill is a fine place to hang out and watch a sporting event. It does not, however, have a very wide selection of craft beers. Today, I started off with a Bass Ale. Honestly, It has been a couple years since I had one, so I was really counting on my memories from college to tell me what to expect. Interestingly, I almost always thought of Bass as being a very dark and heavy beer and compared to some of the darker beers (1554, Levity and even some of the Belgian beers I posted on recently), I found the Bass to be kinda flavorless. The hops are also very tame on this "pale ale". Over all, it is my belief that Bass Ale should EXCLUSIVELY be used for making "Black and Tans"... but that is for another blog post!

Blue Moon #2
Blue Moon #1

After my Bass, I subsequently switched to Blue Moon, a Colorado based brewery that focuses on "Blue Moon" as their flagship beer. A wheaty, light and very drinkable beer that is accentuated well by the slice of orange that almost always accompanies it. It was very tasty indeed... so I had to have one more before leaving to go home!

After I got home I cracked open the last remaining Bridgeport IPA from my April 2nd Post. It was a perfect night cap.

There are some interesting events coming up in the next month. I will keep you all updated as I hear and know more, but breifly, the Schlafly Reveal of Prohibition festival, the previously mentioned Sixo de Mayo pubcrawl and the arrival parties for San Diego's Stone Brewery are all coming up!
