Saturday. Just another day of the week. Right? Well, as far as Saturday's go, THIS was a great one! Why you ask? Because it ended with a Slinger! For those readers, not from St Louis, I will soon describe what a Slinger is! But first, THE BEER!Since Friday night was an all IPA night, I figured tonight I would do another beer theme night. Tonight's theme was Belgian beers. However, instead of your run of the mill Belgians, I broke out some quads! I bought 3 different brands ranging in alcohol from 8.5-12% and drank them from the lowest alcohol content to the highest. Which, in retrospect, may have been my demise!
The first brew, from Huyghe Brewery in Melle is called Dilirium Tremens. This beer came in at the 8.5% ABV and was also the lightest in color. It had a very crisp mouth feel and an almost bubbly finish. This was, in my opinion, the most highly carbonated of the 3 beers tonight. Second up was "The Sixth Glass" Quadruple. This beer is part of the "Smokestack Series" by Kansas City's Boulevard Brewery. Which, if the wait to take the tour suggests anything, is doing rather well lately (you have to wait 2 months to take the tour!) This beer boasts a much more robust 10.5% ABV on top of a much darker body than the Delirium. Finally, I tried the aptly named "Schlafly Quadrupel". This was my favorite beer of the night. It had a really dark body and was full of that yeast-y quad flavor that is so wonderful in Belgian beers!
After watching the last Final Four game (incidentally by Kentucky losing, I won my bracket for the first time EVER!) we sat by the camp fire and finished drinking all the left overs that people brought. Mike broke out a bottle of really tasty cheap bourbon and I slammed a couple of Sam Adams Irish Red. The Irish Red's were actually really good. I never seem to give the Sam Adams Brewery the respect that they deserve: I think I should give them some respect, they make really nice beers!

I have to admit, I love to drink. But after a night like this, I woke up asking why I did that, and I vowed to "never drink again"... but we all know, that's not going to happen!!
